MyDisneyExperience App

I have to say that I really like the upgrades to the MyDisneyExperience App. Disney has really improved the functionality and the perks of using it. The main change is that your additional FastPass (after you have used your first 3) can now be chosen on your smart phone! Woo-hoo!! No more having to hunt down the closest FassPass+ Kiosk, then waiting in line and scrolling through rides just to find out that the one you want isn't available and that you have now wasted time that could have been spent indulging in a Mickey Ice Cream Bar! Okay, as I'm sure you have noticed, I have had my fair share of frustrations with this old process but now it is so much easier and guest-friendly.
I was not too keen on the app up until this last update. I, like many others, was having issues with my account not linking up to my app consistently. No longer! I can view my FastPasses under "My Plans" for all of my future trips! You can also view any Dining Reservations here AND you can make, modify or cancel your reservations through the app as well. Keep in mind that the cancellation policy is still the same, so you could still be charged for a late cancellation. Something that I discovered on my last trip was that no matter when you make your reservation, such as the same day, you are still liable for the cancellation policy. I was a little upset when I called to cancel & was notified that I would still have to pay the $20 per person cancellation fee. However, I was informed that if I didn't cancel my reservations but changed them to another day that I wouldn't be responsible for the fee! What?! Awesome! So I rescheduled my reservation for a few days later and then was able to cancel without penalties later that same day!
Using the app for Attraction Wait Times is also extremely handy. The old days of having to walk to a ride to see the wait time is a thing of the past. Now you can check out wait times for all rides in all parks in just a few seconds!! One downside to using the app so much is that it tends to drain my iPhone 6 battery. I have started bringing a charger with me into the parks just in case. Using the Disney Free Wifi will help extend your battery a bit though.
On a side note: When I went to select my FP for my June trip, which I have on-property hotel reservations for, I discovered that I couldn't select passes for 2 months in the future like I was supposed to be able to. After a quick call to a cast member, I discovered that it's not just 2 calendar months but that you won't be able to make your selections until within exactly 60 days of your reservation.
That's all for today guys! I'll be going to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have some fun stuff to post about!
