King Triton's Tip Tuesday: New Security Measures @ Magic Kingdom

I finally made it to Magic Kingdom since the new security measures have been put in place. Overall, I like this change. There only seems to be one downside, which is if you're parking at the TTC and then traveling via monorail to Epcot you will have to go through security twice. This is a little annoying but not terrible; it would obviously be a bigger inconvenience on days where you have larger crowds.

In spite of what appeared to be a confusing change this really is rather simple and it did alleviate a lot of congestion at the entrance to Magic Kingdom.

As soon as you disembark from the parking lot tram you line up to go through bag check and metal detectors, which are located in what used to be the queuing area for the trams. Keep in mind that if you don't have a bag that you can bypass these tables and head directly to the metal detectors. Even though the queues for security looked long it moved very quickly and only took a few minutes.

If you are arriving at the Ticket & Transportation Center (TTC) then you will go through security before you even reach the ticket booths. However, if you're heading to Magic Kingdom by resort bus then you will go through security on the right side of the path (towards Customer Service).

Contemporary guests who would prefer to walk to Magic Kingdom have a security spot about halfway along the path, after you have crossed over World Drive there is a single table and metal detector to go through.
